Menter Bro Ogwr encourages and supports the use of the Welsh language by working with organisations, companies, businesses, learners and schools. The purpose of Menter is to raise the profile of Welsh in the county through expanding the opportunities available to people of all ages to use the language in a variety of environments. This includes providing opportunities for young people to use their Welsh as much as possible.
This is a vital service to ensure that young people are able to access opportunities to use their Welsh and to have fun as they participate in educational, expressive and comprehensive activities which show that the Welsh language is a living language outside of the classroom environment. In order to ensure this access is available, Menter Bro Ogwr has a member of staff working at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Llangynwyd.
Menter Bro Ogwr provides a service to ensure that all young people have a fair chance in life – a chance of achieving success. We work with young people ensuring that there is a support plan in place for them to attend 1 to 1 sessions with the Youth Worker. They have an opportunity to discuss any issues they are dealing with, both in and out of school. We will also support the young people with their schoolwork as much as possible.
Through receiving extra support young people will have more self confidence and self respect, therefore enabling them to make better choices, cope under stress and ultimately SUCCEED.
Menter Bro Ogwr runs a regular youth club in the school. These clubs are informal who young people can attend at a lunch time in order to socialise with their friends and have fun taking part in a variety of activities.
